Bihar Jharkhand Association Celebrates Holi In New Jersey

The Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) celebrated its annual Holi with a large gathering on April 3, 2022 at Royal Albert Palace in Fords, New Jersey.

The festival of colors which heralds the arrival of Spring and is a harbinger of joy and festivities saw an estimated crowd of 600 people at the venue.

The Holi edition of BJANA magazine “Vaishali ” featured best wishes from Chief Ministers of Bihar and Jharkhand, Speaker of Bihar Vidhan Sabha, and Bihar Chamber of Commerce to BJANA communities in the USA.

India’s Consul General Randhir Jaiswal, Deputy Consul general Dr. Varun Jeph, the Federation of Indian Association (FIA), and many community leaders attended.

BJANA President Anurag Kumar highlighted the organization’s partnership with the Indian Consulate in New York to promote the products made in Bihar and Jharkhand, and tourism.

The event featured a cultural program that featured dances and songs by kids and adults of the community.

The event was live-streamed on the Facebook page of BJANA, which was viewed by people across the globe, a press release from the organization said.
Consul General Jaiswal and other speakers appreciated the efforts of BJANA in promoting “Made in Bihar” and “Made in Jharkhand” initiatives known as ‘Biharika’ and ‘Jharcraft’ respectively.

BJANA vice-president, Sanjeev Singh, thanked all sponsors for their support of BJANA events and activities and Ramesh Bhatia and Tuchman foundations for their generous donations for BJANA’s charitable activities during COVID-19.

Several community members were felicitated for their outstanding service to the communities: Dr. Gopal Sinha for his outstanding achievements and community service; Dr. Avinash Gupta and Dr. Geeta Gupta for their outstanding service to the community in the USA and Bihar & Jharkhand during the COVID-19 pandemic; Dr. Bodh Nath Das for his outstanding achievements and community service; Dr. Pankaj Mohan for his outstanding community service and contributions in biotechnology and innovations in cancer therapeutics; and  Sripat Pandey for outstanding global community service through the Tuchman Foundation.

BJANA has carried out extensive charitable activities in Bihar and Jharkhand ranging from setting up a COVID-care center, providing ambulances and medi-vans, distributing PPE items, setting up a Vocational Training institute for blinds, and supporting the setting up of the neuro-rehab center for making assistive technology accessible to persons with disabilities from marginalized backgrounds in partnership with organizations such as Aastha, Asha, PRAN-BJANA, Kara Medical Foundation, Bihar Netraheen Parishad and Federation of Indian Associations (FIA).

“BJANA’s vision is to connect our youth, educational experts in the USA with students, Industry experts with business/startups, and promote local industries and tourism in Bihar and Jharkhand,” the press release said.
This event was planned and executed by BJANA committee members Anurag Kumar (President), Sanjeev Singh (Vice President), Dr. Anil Agrawal (Secretary), Sushant Krishen (Joint Secretary), Priti Kashyap (Treasurer), and executive members (Dr. Avishek Kumar, Nimisha Verma, Vandana Abhishek Kumar, Akhilesh Azad, Sanjay Gupta, Dipen Banerjee, and Rahul Sahay) and many volunteers.
