The Center for Indian Cultural Education – Bal Vihar of St. Louis celebrated Holi on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Hindu Temple Community Center on Weidman Road. Although Holi officially fell on March 14, this year Bal Vihar waited for more pleasant spring weather to celebrate.

At Bal Vihar, more than 150 people including children, families, and teachers gathered for the Festival of Colors, kicking off the afternoon with laughter, upbeat music, and clouds of skin-safe, colorful gulal. This event is also popular as it signals that the end of the academic calendar is near, a press release from Bal Vihar said.

Event organizers said they encouraged families to bring their own water bottles to reduce single-use plastic and instill environmental awareness in children.

“We’re grateful to our dedicated teachers, selfless volunteers, and enthusiastic families who make celebrations like these possible year after year. Holi at Bal Vihar is not just a celebration of color, but a reminder of the vibrancy of Indian culture and the strength of community,” the press release said.

Center for Indian Cultural Education – Bal Vihar of St. Louis, a non-profit organization, with a current enrollment of more than 325 students since its inception in 1992, has been serving the Metro St. Louis Indian community. The primary focus of this organization is to provide Indian cultural education to students aged 5-18. Students are also taught discipline, tolerance, and devotion in their daily routine. The ultimate goal is “to throw the light of cultural knowledge on every child, to make every child an outstanding citizen, and to spread the song of peace and harmony around the world,” organizers said.
