Atmiya University honors Dr. Sudhir Parikh for philanthropic work in education in India

Indian-American physician, publisher and philanthropist, Padma Shri recipient Dr Sudhir Parikh was felicitated by Atmiya University-Rajkot Feb 16, 2023.

Other institutions that joined in the felicitation included Pradeshik Lokvigyan Kendra Rajkot, Narmada BalGhar-Morvi, Self Finance School Association, Rajkot, Indian Medical Association-Rajkot and Family Physician’s Association-Rajkot.

Tyagvallbh Swami added, “He belongs to the field of medical sciences, and along with his profession he has contributed back to his motherland by advocating and channelizing the efforts for India and through this strengthening the relations between the Nations. Dr Parikh’s association with Bramhswaroop Hariparasad Swamiji was very pious and he has also witnessed the work of Swamishri.” He added that Dr Parikh’s visit to Atmiya University will enlighten the teachers and staff.

President of Yogi Divine Society Premswaroop Swamiji, telephonically expressed his happiness for the felicitation of Dr. Parikh.

Dr Parikh said in his keynote speech, ‘I am being honored on various occasions, but today I felt something different. This felicitation is unique. I feel the breeze of blessings of Hariprasad Swamiji and Premswaroop Swamiji.” He recalled his association with Hariprasad Swamiji for many years.

In his keynote address on the topic ‘Role of Education & Health in Indo-US Relations” Dr. Parikh said education is a key to better health, and both are vital ingredients in the sustainable development of any nation.

He narrated his journey of philanthropy activities in the field of health and education with the aim to empower and enlighten the next generation. Emotional bonding with the next generation of both nations would be beneficial in the time to come. He said that more than 300 youth of Indian origin have acquired key positions in the U.S. government
in the process of empowering Gennext; Pro India group of senators and congressional representatives is working towards the protection of India’s interests in the US policy-making process.

Dr. Parikh emphasized the use of artificial intelligence, saying it would change the scenario of the entire world including the health sector. Educating students in the field of Artificial Intelligence is the need of the hour.

Dr. Parikh congratulated Dr Bharat Mehta of Narmada Bal Ghar for giving him
an opportunity to be instrumental in spreading knowledge of Artificial Intelligence. He is an advisor to Narmada Bal Ghar.

Awareness can be created through the proper use of different types of media, Dr. Parikh said. The masses of people can be educated with entertainment and enlightenment through the media. He informed the gathering that he has acquired four newspapers and a TV Channel with a view to spreading awareness of different developmental issues and activities.

Dr Parikh expressed his gratitude towards his parents for empowering him with good education and human values. He also thanked his family and friends for unparalleled support and cooperation in his philanthropic activities.

Dr. Mehta of Narmada Bal Ghar, Morbi was also present at the occasion. He is known to be among the first few Indians to have brought a computer to India, the press release said. He is also associated with Calyx Pharmaceuticals when as a chairman he made the medicine for TB available to the world, the press release noted.

Today even at an age of 85, Dr. Mehta works 18 hours daily with his technical team te and has made science education available to kids in more than 950 schools and trained more than 1,250 teachers in foundational science and technology concepts and the latest concepts of AI, 3D Printing, Virtual Reality, drone technology, and many more aspects of advanced education. His vision is to develop the skills of young minds for a better future and along with Dr Parikh and other philanthropists, Narmada Bal Ghar has developed more than 150 schools.

Dr. Anamik Shah, eminent scientist and former chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith spoke of  his association with Dr Parikh and Dr. Mehta.

During his visit to the Library & Learning Centre of Atmiya University, Dr. Parikh expressed his pleasure about state-of-the-art facilities for students.

D.V. Mehta of the Self Finance School Association, Dr. Sanjay Bhatt of Indian Medical Association, Dr. V.B. Kasundra of Family Physician Association, Dr. Jayesh Deshkar, Pro-vice Chancellor of Atmiya University, Dr. Divyang Vyas, Dr. Ashish Kothari and many dignitaries from the different fields were present in this felicitation ceremony.

The principal of Virani Science College Dr. Kartik Ladva coordinated the event. Swastikdidi and Sahasikdidi arranged the welcome ceremony of dignitaries with the help of students, the press release said.
