As Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan celebrated his birthday on June 2, director Siddharth P. Malhotra took to his social media handle to wish the debutant by sharing a previously unseen picture. Junaid makes his debut with Siddharth’s Maharaj, releasing on June 14 on Netflix.

The Hichki director shared a sweet note on his Instagram story, stating, “This boy’s passion and dedication is truly unmatched. They say a fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree, which is truly the case for Junaid. He’s got his work ethics from his father for sure, and acting capabilities too. Happy birthday Junaid wish you loads of love and happiness and memorable role and films always! Have the best day and year ever”

Siddharth is all set to make his OTT first with Maharaj, which marks Junaid’s acting debut. Siddharth unveiled the first poster of the project earlier. The first look has set the internet on fire as it features Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Taking to Instagram with the poster, Siddharth shared, “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events – Maharaj is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix! My next film as a director please give it all the love”

Malhotra shared that the film is set in the 1800s and is inspired by true events. “It is a film that shows the resilience of human spirit and how a common man could wield the courage to help people around him and thus help society at large. Get set to get mesmerized into a world of horse-drawn carriages, old school printing presses, kaccha roads, beautiful traditions and a man’s will-power to do good. We are beyond thrilled to present Maharaj that is set to stream exclusively on Netflix, the world’s biggest streaming platform. A story like this will resonate to audiences globally and Netflix is the perfect platform to take our story to the world,” he mentioned in the post.

Sharvari Wagh and Shalini Pandey feature in pivotal roles. The YRF Entertainment film produced by Aditya Chopra has been written by Vipul Mehta and Sneha Desai.

Junaid Khan’s debut marks a new beginning for the actor who always maintained that he was keener on a career behind-the-scenes.
