The SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation held their annual Leadership Awards Dinner, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York. The event was attended by over 600 people including those being honored.
The Leadership awards goal was to recognize a select few individual who have committed themselves to leadership work and helping others.
Ravishankar Bhooplapur, President of Xavier University School of Medicine, was awarded the Leadership Award from SUNY Old Westbury in recognition of his lifelong dedication to leadership and his tireless commitment to humanitarian efforts globally. He was presented this award by Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, President of SUNY Old Westbury and Dr. Bhupi Patel, SUNY Old Westbury Trustee.
Ravishankar Bhooplapur graciously accepted the award and addressed the audience on what being honored with this award meant to him.
The SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation offered a special Salute to College President Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, for his work to continuously create an excellent atmosphere at SUNY Old Westbury and to make his college an excellent place for students to receive a high quality education.
The other Honorees included Dr. Laura Anker, a distinguished service professor at SUNY Old Westbury, and Lionel Chitty, President of the Alumni Association at SUNY Old Westbury.
This Leadership awards dinner was a great success in recognizing a select few individuals who have committed themselves to being leaders in communities and across the globe, according to a press release.
All of the proceeds from the event went to the SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation in order to help to continue to provide scholarships to students and to support academic enrichment programs.
