Last month the online shopping marketplace www.zifiti.com passed an important milestone with the addition of its 100th active seller. The important milestone illustrates the value that the portal provides to vendors of South Asian Indian groceries and other items. By focusing their technology efforts on building a seller-friendly platform ZiFiti has become known for the ease with which a vendor can build a free e-commerce business.
Since its soft launch earlier this year the marketplace has grown quickly from their earlier offerings of a few hundred grocery items to over 100,000 products in a variety of categories that are available at the site today. These categories range from every day, useful products in grocery and cosmetics to even luxury items such as fine jewelry. Fashion items offered at the site include simple salwar kameez as well as heavily ornate wedding lehnga cholis. Even vendors of children’s and men’s clothing have found a means to reaching a larger audience through their ZiFiti seller account.
“Small businesses have literally laid the foundation for the success of this project,” said ZiFiti’s CTO Ramesh Iravathan. “Reaching this milestone is a testament to how easy our system is to work with and how quickly each of our sellers can upload any number of items and at no cost to them.”
Most importantly, the vast offering continues to make ZiFiti the source for products used by the millions of South Asians living in the United States. This means that famous labels such as Haldiram, Nirav, Mother’s Recipe, MDH, Deep Foods, etc, which are readily found in India, can now be purchased in the US for delivery. Even the newly launched Carvaan by Saregama is listed on the site. Consumers are able to furnish their home with handicrafts and purchase items for pooja prayers in one visit. Not all items are traditionally Indian but in fact quite trendy like the copper Moscow Mule mugs offered by one of the many sellers.
The online marketplace is the perfect avenue for vendors to build an online presence without the time, effort and funding required should they build their own e-commerce store. ZiFiti CEO Shinu Gupta states, “I’m very proud that our platform allows merchants to reach such a large, target demographic easily but also for free.” He goes on to say that the open invitation for all sellers to offer their products in this venue will quickly bring them to their next milestone of 250 sellers and over 200,000 products in no time.
