Huntington install plaque in honor of Pramukh Swami Maharaj

The town of Huntington, in New York, commemorated the life and message of Pramukh Swami Maharaj with a plaque,  on June 9, 2019, at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Melville, New York.

Huntington Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci visited the temple for the blessing ritual of the plaque by Doctor Swami, a leading saint of BAPS. The supervisor received blessings as well.

On June 14, at Sweet Hollow Park, in Melville, NY, the Town of Huntington installed the plaque in the park next to the white oak tree that was also planted in his honor, according to a press release.

Special guests that spoke at the ceremony were Huntington Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, Councilman Mark Cutherbertson, Councilwoman Joan Cergol, Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman, Lisa Taft, Chintu Patel, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amneal Pharmaceuticals, and several other representatives of the town of Huntington.

During the ceremony, Supervisor Lupinacci stated that “the BAPS temple is known for bringing people together for the betterment of humanity and the community. You encourage our community members to be more conscious and caring for others.”

Pramukh Swami’s central message of “In the joy of other lies our own” promoted peace with prayers, forgiveness and compassion across the world, according to the release.
