Health fair for Indian-Americans, diaspora to be held Oct. 12, in Edison, N.J.

The Consulate General of India, New York, GOPIO International Health Council with a support from GOPIO Central Jersey Chapter and TV Asia will host their third Health Summit Oct. 12, at TV Asia Auditorium, 76 National Road, Edison, NJ.

Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty is expected to address the summit as the chief guest.  Other special guests include CEO and Chairman of TV Asia, Padma Shri H.R. Shah, Chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold, Padma Shri Dr. Sudhir Parikh and local and state elected officials, a press release from the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin, said.

The full- day event will include a discussions on medical, dental, mental health, alternative medicine, life-style modifications and wellness and yoga sessions from various renowned experts in the tri-state area.

The goal of the health summit is to bring awareness and provide education on various chronic diseases management and how to prevent and reduce complications and live healthy life style in Indian diaspora, the press release said.

Some of the experts and prominent panelists for the discussion include Dr. Nayan Kothari, chair and program director; Dr. Roopa Roy, endocrinologist at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.

Other presenters and professionals who will speak on various topics include – Nurse Practitioner & Health Educator Varsha Singh; Associate Professor, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine Dr. Asha Samant; Dr. B. L. Agarwal – chair of Pediatrics at Lawrence Hospital, N.Y.; Dr. Prakash Amin – SAMHIN; Binny Talati, a physical therapist; Internist Dr. Ketan Vaidya; Dr. Sapna Bhambhani, clinical pharmacy specialist at Saint Peter’s University Hospital; Dr. Annah Kuriakose, program director at Saint Peter’s University Hospital;  Uma Swaminathan, natural healing expert; Jaya Jaya Myra, natural life style expert; Charles Stueber, an acupuncture specialist; and Vikas Chawla, senior at the Art of Living faculty.

Dr. Tushar Patel, president of GOPIO Central Jersey and chair of GOPIO International Health Council will be the chief coordinator and the moderator for the entire health summit.

Rahul Shukla, president and CEO of S.S. White Technologies and Shukla Medical is the key-note speaker at the plenary session.

Hitesh Bhatt, founder & CEO of Bhatt Foundation Inc. and Dr. Anurag Pande, vice-president of Scientific Affairs at Sabinsa Corporation will be the guest speakers.  Dr. Thomas Abraham, chairman of GOPIO International will welcome attendees at the inaugural session.
