Diwali on the Hudson features Payal Singhal’s Collection

The fifth Diwali on the Hudson took place at the Hudson Terrace this year bringing together about 350 attendees who enjoyed the beats of international sensation Karsh Kale and DJ Suhel.

Speeches were made by Desai Foundation President Megha Desai, Director of Partnerships, Tess Fenn and Charlotte Douglas, a seamstress and fashion designer in New York City.

The event was star studded with international platinum recording artist Jay Sean, Kirk Douglas of The Roots and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Indian classical singer Falu Shah, reporter Joya Das, author Anjali Kumar, some tech founders and VCs, among the guests.

An exclusive fashion show showcased Payal Singhal’s Festive Collection in America for the first time and the Desai Foundation choose 11 real life inspirations of women’s empowerment:

Ami Sheth –  actress, model and veterinarian
Sheetal Sheth – actress, producer, author and activist
Diva Dhawan – international model and brand ambassador for Beauty for Freedom
Nitika Chopra – host of the talk show Naturally Beautiful on Z Living and self-love expert
Eliza Orlins – one of New York City’s Public Defenders and former Survivor contestant
Thara Natalie – former music entertainment mogul, current holistic nutritionist and fitness influencer and owner of Fireshaper Studio
Kim Kaupe – co-founder of ZinePak, listed on Forbes 30 Under 30 and featured on ABC’s Shark Tank

The event also featured cocktails by Simple Vodka, 1947 Premium Lager, Soto Sake, Bulldog Gin and One Hope Wines along with food from Desi Galli with pani puri shots being the most popular dish and cupcakes were provided by Monsoon Cakes.
