Indian American comedian Aziz Ansari has finally opened up about the sexual misconduct allegations that were made against him last year.

According to a Daily Beast report, Ansari spoke about the incident in front of 200 fans during one of his “pop-up” performances, outside of his larger tour.

Ansari explained to the audience that he had been waiting for a long time to discuss the issue as “it’s a terrifying thing to talk about” and that he needed time to process and actually think about what he wanted to say, according to a Vulture report.

“There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way. But you know, after a year, how I feel about it is, I hope it was a step forward. It made me think about a lot, and I hope I’ve become a better person,” Ansari told his audience, according to a Daily Beast report.

Last year, a 23-year-old photographer from Brooklyn wrote on babe.net, about her date with Ansari, in which she claims that he allegedly forcefully kissed her in his apartment and tried to have sex with her repeatedly, according to an earlier News India Times report.
