Rampal told News India Times that although he loves New York, he has been visiting quite frequently due to his mother’s treatment for cancer but this time the reason for his visit was different.

“Now I have come because it is a Zee Utsav for Ganesha and I’m a big Ganeshji bhakt and my upcoming film ‘Daddy’ has a Ganesh song in it as well,” he said.

His upcoming film ‘Daddy’ is about the gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli and was supposed to release on July 21. However, it was postponed on the family’s request as Gawli is to be granted parole in early September. It is now scheduled to release on September 8.

Since Rampal and the makers of the film were keen on making the film realistic, and it took about two years of research and one year to convince Gawli, they honored the request.

Rampal said he wanted to take the opportunity of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Woodbridge to promote the film and hoped everyone will enjoy it as it is a different kind of film.

The festival, in fact, which is the biggest of its kind, is being celebrated for five days from August 25 to 29, in Woodbridge this year where devotees can come and take part in the daily prayers to Lord Ganesha.

Although the statue of Lord Ganesha is 14 feet high, on August 29 all will bid adieu to the lord as a smaller statue will be immersed inside a portable bucket of water.
