Balvihar Hindi Pathshala in Chicago holds 5th annual celebration

The Balvihar Hindi Pathshala of Chicago recently held its 5th annual celebration at the Sri Venkateswara Swami (Balaji) Temple in Aurora, Illinois, a suburb in Greater Chicago.

Balvihar is the initiative of Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, which the press release said, adheres to the values of Sanatana Dharma and the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the entire creation is one family).

The annual function is part of the Balvihar curriculum which was designed to prepare students to gain confidence while making public appearances and presentations, a press release from organizers said.

In presentations, the subject materials were designed to reinforce the cultural values taught in Balvihar classes. The program began with the ceremonial lamplighting (Deep Prajwalan). The VHPA and BalVihar  prayers followed.

The stage was elegantly decorated and a professional sound system was installed, the press release said. Senior students Atharva Awasthi, Mayank Jain and Samyak Jain, speaking in Hindi, emceed the event.

The VHPA national president Abhay Asthana , from Boston was the chief guest and Sanjay Mehta ( BalVihar national coordinator), Dr Shamkant ( Trustee of VHPA) and Prerna Arya (Indian Consulate in Chicago) were Guest sof honor.

The VHPA Chicago Karyakartas Nirav Patel, president of VHPA Chicago, Shailesh Rajput, secretary, Rajneesh Jain, Balvihar administrator, and Amitabh Mittal, joint secretary, were given a floral welcome. Vandana Jhingan of TV Asia, also attended.

Talented Balvihar students presented cultural acts through their dances and skits. Where youngest students from Aushita Desai and Lakshmi Patsa’s level 1 class brought  “Indradhanush ke rang” on stage, the oldest students Shraddha Vakharia  and  Lata Linguta, performed a skit on “why it is important to learn Hindi language.”

Purvi Kapasi and Archana Shrigadi of level 2 spread the colors of India’s flag, green, white and orange, while performing a patriotic dance.

Nidhi  Chawdhari and Niveditta Ahuja’s class sang ‘Mile Sur mera tumhara’ while representing different-states of India.

Senior level students showcased all famous Indian poets from the history of ancient India through the medium of Kavyakshetra skit. They portrayed how Devdoot in heaven when he was getting exhausted, welcomed renowned poets to listen to their recitals for his entertainment. This skit was prepared by Radhika Jain and Anagha Joshi.

The chief guests praised all the teachers for their contributions to Balvihar and their important role.

Radhika Jain, coordinator of the event, informed those present about the school’s achievements in academics ,and announced 5 Years of Excellence Awards for students who completed 5 years in Balvihar. Five students — Aarushi Kaul, Arthur, Saachi Singh, Samyak Jain and Suhaani Singh were presented awards by Dr Shamkant Sheth Ji (ex-president VHPA Chicago)

The VHPA Chicago President Patel gave Balvihar mugs as incentives to all students. The VHPA Secretary Rajput thanked the chief guests, dignitaries, and parents as well as students, teachers, and the coordinators for making the event a success.
