A national anti-abortion group, Susan B. Anthony List, announced March 20, that former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, the first Indian-American to hold a cabinet-level position in any administration, will speak at the organization’s 12th annual “Campaign for Life Gala” June 3. The event will take place at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

“We are proud to honor our longtime friend, Nikki Haley, for her strong pro-life leadership,” SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, is quoted saying in a press release. “During her time as governor, Nikki signed landmark legislation to end brutal late-term abortions in South Carolina,” Dannenfelser said, adding that as President Trump’s ambassador to the UN, Haley “was a fierce defender of unborn children and their mothers and of American interests in protecting the vulnerable.”

Dannenfelser went on to say that Haley “stood up to the international abortion lobby and played a key role in advancing the Trump administration’s pro-life priorities, resulting in historic gains for life on a global scale.”

“This will be an awesome event. Come join us!” Haley tweeted about the SBA List event, accompanied by emojis of a heart and the American flag.

“At the United Nations, America is often in the minority when we stand up for our values, but we proudly stand strong for them anyway, because it’s the right thing to do,” Haley is quoted saying in the SBA List press release, adding, “At home, the Susan B. Anthony List reminds us of the importance of staying true to our values, and no value is more sacred than the right to life.  On late term abortions in particular, America is too often falling short of our own values.”

When she was governor of South Carolina, the first Indian-American woman to hold that position nationwide, Haley signed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act into law. At the UN, “she championed the human rights of unborn children and their mothers,” SBAL said.

Previous speakers at the SBA List Campaign for Life Gala include President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).

The organization says it is a network of more than 700,000 Americans who are against abortion, and is “dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.”
